The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 4 Officially Closes.

I didn't take to blogging , which is my usual routine, and blast out a story about The Real Housewives of New Jersey the same night that it ended. I was feeling indifferent for a change and I guess a little relieved as well...There were so many great Tweets on Twitter, points of view, and blogs that I wanted to sit back and flesh out the overall feeling that viewers were left with. In a nut shell, I would say, from the information that "Detective Charles" was able to gather it was a disappointment.Viewers really had an adverse reaction to season four of RHONJ and the reunion , and from  what I gathered, they were glad to see it end. The Real Housewives of New Jersey fans are a passionate bunch, myself included, and we are not fickle. When it comes to the show and the cast we are "all in". Perhaps my analogies all season long of  RHONJ being like a sport isn't too far off? The Real Housewives of New Jersey has been "my team" for sure. Everybody has their favorite player and Teresa Giudice was and is my star quarterback. The show brought up a lot of issues, I believe, that viewers can relate to, identify with, rally for, and be passionate about. Bravo definitely has the ratings to prove it as we tuned in every Sunday in record numbers. We continued to watch as friendships were lost and families destroyed... both on the screen and in the press. You may think that this is a little "melodramatic" but for viewers of The Real Housewives of New Jersey this show is as real as " reality" gets these days...editing aside. The reunion was has highly anticipated and I for one though we would finally get the resolution that we all were looking for. I couldn't have been more wrong. It was about a year since the ladies ( and husbands) were all in the same place together and when they finally gathered at The Borgata Casino in  Atlantic City, tensions were high. They taped for a grueling ten hours and Bravo edited the footage down to three hours spread out over three Sundays. Tears were shed, accusations were made, and voices were lost. I wished Andy could have done a live reunion considering the " butcher job" of season four and viewers already felt cheated. If you are on Twitter you know that was definitely a hot topic amongst fans of the show ( besides Jacquelin Laurita's uncensored all over the place tweets, or as I named them in an earlier blog #JacTweets). We didn't really discover anything new at the reunion however we were able to see that the cast members were still very emotional and upset with one and other and not in a place to make peace yet. What stood out the most for me was the passion that everyone had for their cause, so much so, that they were not able to listen to what others were saying.I hope Bravo and Andy listen to the viewers as they claim to have done with RHONY and add some new cast members and change things up. The viewers of The Real Housewives of New Jersey are ready for a change. They want more laughs ... in this case there was too much drama and in the end it is back firing.
Having had an amazing relationship with my sister, I felt so bad that Teresa and her brother Joe Gorga continue to be in a bad place. This isn't acting... it's real. A brother and his only sister were torn apart by fame, a television show, and gossip. Sadly, these days, friendships come and go... but family is what matters. I leave this season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey behind with the hope that one day Teresa and her brother Joe can sit down to family dinners once again. Instead of serving us drama for entertainment on Sundays they can serve the pasta and make memories for themselves.
I am Billy Charles and this is the way I see it Xx Billy

  3. Great job! I see it the way you see it, for sure. Change up the cast, get back to fun times! Maybe taking a page from Bethenny's book, "A Place Of Yes" might do some good for these families, it is sad to see.

  4. Actually what is stopping Teresa and Joe from gathering their kids and meeting up with their parents to do something as a FAMILY every week without the spouses for now. It seems that Joe claims that Juicy is jealous of his success and Teresa claims that Melissa wants to be her. If Joe cannot show respect to Juicy and Teresa cannot show respect to Melissa then it is better to not include them. One thing that has not worked is the *this who I am married to and you have to respect them* I am the older sister, I get along with my SIL, however, if she did something to make me dislike her, my brother, would never DARE to say to me *this is who I am married to and you have to respect her* Ummm No I don't! AND my brother likes my husband but if my husband was mean to him, I would NEVER tell my brother *this is who I am married to and you have to like him* I would plan things with my FAMILY until people were mature enough to get along.

    1. This is actually a brilliant solution! Maybe without the cameras and the spouses around, they could get back to what they like about each other. Well said.

    2. I agree that's a perfect solution. Then as they support one another again I bet the spouses would see the light of day. And if not that's alright.

  5. Great blog post as always Billy.Obviously Andy Cohen and Bravo listen to the viewers which is why he explained to Jill Zarin in his one on one interview with her that the reason for the RHONY cast shake-up was he felt the last season was toxic, something that we can all agree has happened to RHONJ this season.Lets hope he doesn't get rid of the wrong people.

  7. Being a parent of an autistic child and knowing the unknowns, heartbreak and sometimes downright chaos it brings to a family that didn't ask for it, and that will have to work through it for the rest of their lives -- it's a little hard to hear the lack of support for Jacqueline. A lot of her behaviors really "fell into place" for me, after she shared what was going on with Nicholas. I know first hand what a bomb that diagnosis is. How heartbreaking it is to see your child regress and how isolating it is to feel alone as most of your other friends and families children achieve and progress "normally". You're so happy for them, but you can't help the human feelings of sadness for your own child. And when you're going through the worst of it, you want, need friends that are there for you. Unless you live through this, it's impossible to understand. The endless research, fight with school districts, scouring for therapists and therapies, go into debt paying for things you pray will work, that have no guarantee, that insurance doesn't cover. Granted Jacqueline has more means than most, but it doesn't make it any less difficult or change any of the facts. it's a difficult and long road. It's hard on your marriage, many end in divorce. It's hard on your psyche because you can't help but blame yourself, and feel as though you completely failed your child, your family, your other children, etc. And you become so much more sensitive to everything. And maybe everyone thinks "well that isn't "my" problem", but it doesn't mean behaviors don't change, that someone who was once quiet, shy and kept to herself doesn't become more of a fighter and outspoken. I saw the episodes too, and maybe it's just my own personal outlook but I didn't see where her expectations regarding her friendship with Teresa were out of line. And the other aspect I'd like to point point out, the major changes in Jacqueline's life, she couldn't help - it's the hand she was dealt. As for Teresa and Joe Guidice, the problems they are facing, they have caused themselves. It didn't just HAPPEN to them, it's the result of bad choices made by them both. And granted we ALL make bad choices, but we should also take responsibility for them. I don't see them doing too much of that, at least not on the public side. Maybe things are different behind the scenes, I wouldn't know. And trust me in the beginning I was a huge fan of Teresa and all her quirks! She's quite entertaining. But I can't stand behind someone as selfish as she is proving herself to be, survival mode or not. The rest of them all stood by her, UNTIL she gave them valid reasons not to. And that is just the way I see it. Luv you Billy, but on this one we'll have to agree to disagree. ;) I too hope they change things/people up and get RHONJ back to the fun show it once was. :)

  8. Since RHONJ Season 4 is officially over, then why is Bravo showing outtakes this Sunday of Caroline and Jac. I'm not stupid. They want to see if people will watch without Teresa. With Andy being so easily gullible and liking how sleazy Joe Gorgas is and his pitiful wife coming out on stage in a one piece bathing surrounded by topless dancers and Joe Gorgas kissing other women's breasts and signing them...uhm... I'm disgusted with them. No I won't watch this Sunday. Sick and tired of people accusing Teresa of being jealous of Melissa. AS IF Melissa is sleeping with her husband. Stupid to think a WOMAN would be jealous of her brother's mate. As for Joe and Joe. Fact is Joe Guidici DID start Joe Gorgas in the business. So why should Juicy be jealous of Joe. Like I said, I'm disgusted with the Gorgas, Manzos, Lauritas and Waikilis. Don't need to watch them. Sayonara.

    1. Praussie Gray, WOOO HOOO found my blog buddy! my words exactly.
Kari F, with all due respect, I would have to disagree to. I used to like Jacqueline and I certainly have sympathy for anyone dealing with Autism, but Jacqueline has been down right nasty on blogs, twitter and even the "rag mags" she blasts Teresa about. In the reunion her words about Teresa smelling her brothers g-string are disgusting and she has no problem looking in the camera and calling Teresa scum. Kim D said they ALL knew and Jac knew as much as Teresa that Melissa was the target for the drama. I do believe Jac set Teresa up. She keeps saying "why would I set Melissa up" but shes
not being acused of setting Melissa up, if you listen close she being acused of setting Teresa up. Which I absolutely believe she did.
I have raised handicapped, severly abused children (foster) so I can relate to the anger but I cant excuse her vicious attacks.

  9. Thanks Anonymous. Just saw this. When I said sayonara I meant it. lol My grandson has autism and it is heartbreaking what he has to endure and my daughter/his mother as well. BUT, my daughter is the sweetest thing and she has not used his condition to attack people and put them down. If anything it has made us to practice empathy more. I can't believe Jac is really in touch with her son's autism if she is spending so much time attacking other people. In all reality she would be entirely way too busy with his health issues to be so involved in gossip blogs, tweets, etc.
