RHONY Season 5 Wrap UP...The Apple is still Ripe

The cast of  RHONY; Luann, Carole, Aviva, Ramona , Sonja and Heather.
To say that this season of The Real Housewives of New York was explosive is an understatement. I don't believe one episode went by without some sort of conflict, argument, or cat fight ensuing. There were plenty of laughs and good times as well but I think as a viewer what stands out most to me is the Drama. Bravo mixed it up this season and  we saw some fresh faces: Carole Radziwill, the bohemian princess journalist, Aviva Drescher, Vassar graduate and stylish lawyer, and Heather Thomson chic fashion mogul. All in all not a bad start.

Aviva, Carole, and Heather.  ( Andy's Angels )
They kept Luann De Lesseps, Ramona Singer, and Sonja Morgan from season 4. It was interesting to see how the ladies would interact and who would get along with whom. Right off the bat we saw Luann and Ramona's conflict still carrying over from season 4 as they tried to make amends and Heather and Ramona not feeling each other's chemistry. Translation : Ramona was threatened by another smart business woman instead of lifting a fellow woman up she found every reason to be on the defense and came off as jealous.
Carole, at first, seemed a bit above it all but as we got to know her we saw a lady with a laid back cool who knows whats important in life but doesn't like to overly toast it. Heather started out not as a fan favorite but quickly won viewers over with her no no nonsense " tell it like it is " attitude. What other Housewife can still make " Holla!" look good? Enter the most talked about cast member of the season, besides Ramona, Aviva Drescher. Aviva's addition to the cast definitely made the season worth while and prompted many of the most memorable lines we have heard on this show in a while. White Trash ring a bell? Wimp? and the list goes on ( luckily for us).
There were plenty of other characters as well such as Heather's husband, Aviva's husband, and her father George. George deserves a whole blog just dedicated to him as he definitely got the viewers talking.
There was even a character who we barely saw but heard a lot about... Harry Dubin , Aviva's ex. If I had a dollar for every time we heard his name I would be able to join the cast as the next house husband. In true Housewives fashion, of course there was a trip, and this time we were brought back to "scary island" two complete with pirates, meltdowns, wenches, and who could forget Luann's friends " the group of Italians";)
Back in the "big apple" we were left still waiting for Sonja's toaster oven and her divorce settlement. Ramona still turned every event  into fight and a plug for Pinot Grigio and Luann debated having a baby with Jacques .
Aviva walked in Heather's Yummie Tummie fashion show, Carole "gave birth" to a new book, and Sonja failed miserably at bringing Xanadu headbands back in style.
Friendships were strengthened , new friendships were formed, and  friendships were broken. Many said that Luann didn't have a story line...I believe she did but the magic of editing jumped all over the Aviva, Sonja, and the "Ramonacoaster". The reunion should be interesting to say the least because the last episode left the ladies with unresolved anger amongst certain cast mates and now that the show has aired everyone got a chance to see who said what behind whose back. I found this season to be a welcomed change from seasons past and the new editions were a smart choice and spiced things up. Overall I liked this season but wished we could have had more fun and less fighting but like Gretchen Rossi from The RHOC told me " it's Housewives , it will never happen" and that's the way I see it Xx Billy

For the record I loved Aviva Drescher , Heather Thomson, and Carole Radziwill who you can follow on Twitter @avivadrescher @IamheatherT and @caroleradziwill
