Getting To The Root Of The Matter With Celebrity Hair Stylist David Antunes !

Celebrity Hair Stylist David Antunes from Hair by David in Kearny  NJ

David Antunes is always searching for ways  to better himself and what he loves to do. It was that search that led him to achieve his  successful  career as a highly regarded celebrity hair stylist. David realized his dream of opening a boutique salon in his hometown and he caters to some of the best stars Hollywood has to offer... from A list actor Al Pacino to music industry veteran and rock legend Gene Simmons from Kiss. This has not changed David from the genuine and caring person that he is. David really appreciates his life and he  is grateful for how far he has come professionally , as he should be...he has worked hard to get there! Recently David Antunes has been getting a lot of  attention on the reality television scene thanks to Teresa Giudice from The Real Housewives Of New Jersey  and her new product line Milania Hair Care. David decided to look into carrying  Teresa Giuduce's hair care line in his Kearny NJ salon, Hair by David, and it caused such a commotion amongst his clients that it was sold out within the first five days of being stocked there! This wise business decision also led Milania Hair Care Reps to have Teresa Giudice herself do a " Meet and Greet" with fans and clients at his salon ( which garnered them both a ton of press) and the rest as they say is history!
Below I got to ask David a few questions and find out who he is and what he is all about.
 Meet David Antunes!

BC:  Tell me about your heritage and where you grew up...
DA: I was born in Newark, NY and raised in Kearny. My parents were born and raised in
Europe , Portugal.

BC: What were you like as a child?
DA: Well this is a tough question to answer ( both laugh) Hmm...how was I as a child?
I was a creative,  inquisitive, kind, active, a good brother, a good son, a good friend, and
a  mama's boy!

BC: What was your family like and were they supportive of your decision to get involved in the beauty industry?
DA:  My family then was extremely supportive! My mother and my sisters were my biggest cheerleaders.

BC: When were you first aware that you wanted to be a part of the beauty industry and what steps did you take to get to where you are now?
DA: Growing up as a child I never realized that I wanted to be a hairstylist. I was always told that I was extremely talented where fashion, hair , and  makeup were concerned but I never was in touch with that side. It wasn't unitl I was  21 years old working for a retail company that had transferred me out to Long Island and I had an epiphany!  I woke up one day and I said I think I want to go to cosmetology school and I want to be a hairstylist.
BC: Is that when you told your family?
DA: Yes...one weekend  I came home to visit my family  I told My parents I want to go to school to be a hairstylist but I just didn't want to be a hairstylist I wanted to be a special hairstylist. I wanted to do hair for television, photography, fashion, and for celebrities. I wanted to be something different than just your regular behind the chair hairstylist.
BC: You have definitely succeeded!
DA: Thank you but I am always striving to better myself!

BC: How would you describe yourself now ?
DA: It's so hard to speak about myself... I am extremely hard working,  very dedicated and committed, ambitious, passionate for life,  responsible, persistent, assertive, aggressive.
BC: Which is perfect for the business that you are in!
DA: Absolutely! I am a " Go Getter" ...if  I want something I don't let life pass me by. I am also a risk taker and I believe in Rules are meant to be broken (Of course that is some not all).

BC: Tell my readers about some of celebrity clientele that you have worked with...

Here a younger David Antunes works with Al Pacino
DA: It's a long list ( both laugh) Adriana Lima  Victoria's Secret model ,Karolina Kurkova Victoria's Secret model, Omorosa  from celebrity apprentice, Carmen Electra, Gene Simmons ( Kiss ), Dave Navarro, George Clooney, Christopher ReeveKim Cattrall,  Susan Sarandon, Geraldo Rivera , Janet Leigh, Robert Wagner, Alec Baldwin, Al Pacino, Legendary model Twiggy, Betsey Johnson, Susan Lucci,  Paul McCartney, Heather Mills, Supermodel Niki Taylor, Carson Daly ,Nelly ,Suze Orman, Blythe Danner , Dana Delany, Marg Helgenberger,  Mia Farrow,Roger Moore , Vendela ( model ), Joan Jett, Marcus Shenkenberg ( male model ) John Mc Enroe (former world number one professional tennis player), Patty Smith from the band Scandal, Regis Philbin and many more!

Hair by David Salon in Kearny NJ

BC: Of course I want to hear all about your fabulous salon Hair by David...
DA:  The next chapter of me being a hairstylist was to be a salon owner. I opened my first salon in Harrison New Jersey September 2006 right away. I then started to plan a move into the  salon that I dreamt about for years and we started to look for store fronts. My partner and I prefered Kearny NJ where I grew up. We purchased a building and we totally renovated it! We were able to turn the existing space into a Fabulous boutique salon!
BC: What was the process like?
DA:  A lot of research went into my vision. I traveled to Lisbon, Sevilla, Paris, London, Milan Rio de Janeiro São Paulo, Buenos Aires.  The look that I was going for the something very sophisticated and  old-school Hollywood.  I wanted something very elegant, clean lines , and very chic. What I had discovered in most of the salons as I have traveled throughout the world was that most of these high-end salons did not have waiting areas and   everyone worked by an appointment.  I thought that idea was wonderful and it eliminates people hanging out in the salon.
BC: What is the atmosphere in your salon like?
DA:  Very upbeat and fun! I play all types of music in the salon...it's  very eclectic and the  energy is alive!
We all are uniform with our look ...dressing in all black. My female shampoo  assistants wear red lipstick...this is all a look that I came up with and  consistency is extremely important! I  need to be set apart from everyone else in my neighborhood. It works  and everyone seems to love it!

BC: How did you hook up with Teresa Giudice from RHONJ  and Milania Hair Care ?

Teresa Giudice from The Real Housewives of New Jersey and David Antunes

DA: I have two sisters they are both fans of Teresa from The Real Housewives Of  New Jersey.
One of my sisters,  Elizabeth, which I call her Liz,  Sent me a text message one evening , I believe it was like 10:45 PM,  telling me to look into a product line that Teresa was tweeting about targeting salon owners.
I looked into it. What got me right away with the packaging  I was extremely curious what this was about
So I sent Milania haircare an email inquiring about the product.
BC: when did you hear back?
DA:  Several weeks went by I didn't hear anything... all of a sudden I got an email and we were in touch with one another ! One day I was able to speak to Renée the marketing manager at Milania haircare and she said that she was going to sample me the  three products and she wanted my feedback the rest is history as you can see!
BC: Yes your salon has really been a great endorsement for Milania Hair Care!
DA: I fell in love with these products they are by far the best that I have ever worked with!
I went ahead and I placed my first order my first order...it sold out  in a matter of five days!
BC: That is amazing! Especially for a new product!
DA: Yes!  I was completely sold out and I kept reordering . Hair by David was then invited to the official launch party. After the launch party I did what I had to do to make my salon successful.  I kept ordering this product... I believed in it my and stylists loved it . I was absolutely thrilled with this new product that I have brought into my salon and couldn't get enough of it  Nor could my clients.

BC:  How did you get to meet Teresa Giudice?
DA: Milania Hair Care suggested a meet and greet event at my salon with Teresa Giudice . It was a great idea it was a huge success for Milania Hair Care . Then Teresa asked me to participate at the IBS ( International Beauty Show ) show which takes place every year at the Jacob Javits Center and Of course I said yes! The show was so  amazing and it was off the hook ! We sold out!  I have no voice from speaking so much the past three days the music was so so so loud the energy was just insane I loved every single second of it!

BC: How would you describe Teresa Giudice to my readers having worked along side her?
DA: Teresa is a very hard working dedicated to her family and her career and in my opinion is a responsible woman...for sure her family comes first! She is sweet,  humble, kind, and  she treats people with respect. Teresa remembers peoples names which says a lot about someone. The little conversations that I had with her, don't forget we were very busy working with  no time for chitchatting, I can tell that she has many great qualities about herself. I am looking forward into getting to know her better seems like she would be a wonderful friend.

Teresa, David, and Team Milania Hair Care!

DA: These three products are by far the best that are out on the market they repair , replenish your hair
it leaves your hair feeling soft, silky sleek ,shiny the smell is unbelievable! This is the Bentley  of all hair care products you're not going to get anything better than this. I have never used anything like this all of my years of doing hair and that's 20+ years .It has made my career as a hairstylist easier. BC: What can we expect from you professionally  in the future and what are some of your personal goals?
DA:  To continue to grow professionally . I don't know what's out there in store for me but I know something good is waiting for me...meanwhile I will continue to be successful at what I do!
There's no stopping me I'm constantly thinking and constantly growing.

BC: What advice can you give the thousands of young hopefuls trying to make it in the business?
DA: You have to be hungry to make it! Somebody right behind you wants what you have make sure that you shine to your fullest potential. Hard work does not go unnoticed...go after your dreams don't let anyone get in your way even if they tell you that you're not going to make it. Don't let anyone tear you down you keep going for what you want. Don't shoot for the stars ,,,shoot for the moon it's Further ( both laugh) Never give up! Believe and you shall receive
BC: That is great advice and I live by ask, believe, and receive myself! Thank you so much for the insight into your exciting career and i know my readers will love your story!
DA: Thank you so much I really appreciate the opportunity as well and If you are every in Kearny please stop by my salon and see it for yourself!
BC: Sounds like a plan!

David Antunes is starting another chapter in his life and shows us that it is never too late to go after a dream or strive to be better at what you already are doing. Chris Gialanella " Stark Naked"  Photo Credits : laurenhillary.com

Chris Gialanella before "Stark Naked" training and after!

Stark Training in Irvine CA chose seven willing clients who were up for the challenge of training hard, dieting perfectly and following a “show-prep-like” process, rending every bit of fat possible from their bodies over a six-month period. At the end of this time frame the clients were photographed STARK NAKED—well almost naked. Whoever receives the most votes at the end of two weeks, Stark will make a contribution of five hundred dollars to the charity of their choice. Chris chose Pitt Hopkins because it is a charity that hits close to home for him. This was a great opportunity for him to get in great shape and also  give back to a little friend of his , Calvin
Lapidus. Calvin, was diagnosed with Pitt Hopkins, a mutation in the 18th chromosome characterized by physical delays, mental retardation and lack of speech. It has been a tough time, obviously, but now that his family finally know the diagnosis at least they have a specific goal: To find a cure for Pitt Hopkins. Help Chris and the Lapidus family find a cure for Calvin and other kids with Pitt Hopkins as well as other genetic syndromes. Please donate in Calvin's name at www.pitthopkins.org and also vote for Christopher Gialanella to raise money for this rare disease.

Kim Zolciak Breaking News!!! RE: Tardy for The Party

GRAPHIC CREDIT: RL BANKZ  @RLBANKZ

With The New Season Of  Don't Be Tardy airing tomorrow night on Bravo TV starring Kim Zolciak, and the recent  news that Kandi Burruss was suing Kim Zolciak over their hit single Don't Be Tardy For The Party , the media is buzzing with stories from both camps. Kandi Burruss is suing Kim Zolciak to prevent her from being able to sell the song and profit any further...I also heard that Kim Zolciak has filed a counter claim today. Kandi's Show, The Kandi Factory,  debuted last week with less than stellar reviews ( Reported from Bravo Ratings on Twitter) and it has been  said that Bravo hopes that running  Don't Be Tardy before The Kandi Factory will help amp up Kandi's ratings. When news broke a few weeks back that Kandi Burruss was indeed suing Kim Zolciak a firestorm of allegations were being thrown back and forth leading me to run my story on prior Kandi Factory pilot winner Matthew Solomon and the fact that he claimed that he was not given his full prize and allegations surfaced that Kandi Burruss was doing shady business...after my story broke a few days later Matthew's song, " Take That" written by Kandi Burruss,  was back up and available for purchase!

Details here:

http://billycharlesny.blogspot.com/2013/04/inside-kandi-factory-where-everything.html

Kim Zolciak and Kandi Burruss discuss Tardy For The Party!

I have EXCLUSIVE proof below that also shows that Kim Zolciack did indeed pay Kandi Burruss for Don't Be Tardy For The Party and in fact OVER PAID as Kim Zolciak herself has said countless times and Kandi Burruss was ordered to pay Kim Back Royalties:

Note : The Memo States " ROYALTY REINBURSMENT" made out to Kim Zolciack From Kandi Burruss

Several Media outlets are breaking this story however my site is the only site to show proof that Kim Zolciak did indeed pay , and in fact, over pay Kandi Burruss for  monies received from the song .
What is in store next for these former friends? Your guess is as good as mine although I am sure we will be waiting for the the next chapter in the Kim and Kandi story and That's The Way I See It! Xx Billy Charles

It's Always Sunny In " The OC " Thanks To Alexis Bellino!

Alexis Bellino from The Real Housewives Of Orange County on Bravo TV

After appearing on three seasons of  The Real Housewives Of Orange County on Bravo TV, Alexis Bellino is no stranger to the spotlight. Now with a fourth season under her belt, which is season eight in total for the very  first Bravo TV  Housewives franchise, she is back and better than ever! Alexis, in my opinion, is a breathe of fresh air on The Real Housewives Of Orange County...always positive and making us as viewers laugh with her and at her " Alexisms". For example, one would be when she says the word  " Becoz" translation ; Because! Alexis owns it! It's her upbeat personality and willingness to poke fun of herself that helped make her relatable  and endearing to her many fans. But this is reality television and as we have come to find out  not even the  lovable Alexis would  remain drama free...
Last season we saw the tables turn and  Alexis was being " attacked"  and constantly having to defend herself, her marriage, and her values to some of the  women ( including a former friend) which led her to become disenchanted and  ultimately quit the show altogether. Fans of the long running show were very upset and when production reached out to her to return , and after a much contemplated decision , she decided that letting the negativity get to her just wouldn't do!
Alexis  picked herself up , " dusted her self off " ( complete with a fab new hair style) , and returned despite all the rumors, gossip, and press saying otherwise. At a place when the media and public scrutiny were so high she decided what better time than now to face her fears, go after her dreams, and show everyone that there is more to
" Jesus Barbie " ( an affectionate term given to her by fans after hearing the term on the show which refers to her looks and her christian faith ) than meets the eye. Below Alexis opens up to me about her life, marriage, her experience on the show , and her goals for the future.

BC: Where did you grow up?
AB: I grew up in Hannibal, Missouri...a small town with a population of 18,000!
BC: Wow that is small!
AB: Yes! ( laughs) but it was the home of Mark Twain!
BC:Very  Cool! Thanks for the " fun fact" ( both laugh)...  What was your childhood like?
AB: I had a relatively normal upbringing, although my parents did divorce when I was twelve years old, which devastated me.
BC: Sorry to hear that...
AB: Thank you! It's okay though as  for the most part I remember a childhood filled with love and laughter.
We lived in a "kid friendly" neighborhood where after school we would ride bikes or walk through the creek to TG&Y where we'd buy toys and candy!

BC: When you were a young girl what did you see yourself doing as a career?
AB: I always pictures myself doing something in front of crowds, although I never dreamed it would be on television! I have always pushed myself and I enjoy people!
BC: Did you attend college after high school?
AB: Yes I graduated from The University of Missouri-Columbia with a marketing degree.
BC: What was your first job after that?
AB: After college I became the general manager of a privately owned health club. I absolutely loved doing that because I wore many hats...from hiring staff to ordering products to personal training!
BC: That would be a perfect fit seeing as how you are very athletic! Being so busy...how do you still maintain your fabulous figure these days?
AB: Thank you! I make working out and eating healthy a priority!

Alexis has one of the best bods in the OC !

BC: How did you meet your husband Jim Bellino ?
AB: Jim and I met in 2004 at a resort in Palm Desert California. It was Memorial weekend and he spotted me out of a crowd of 1500 people hanging out at the pool that day...we have never spent a day a part since then!

Alexis and her hubby Jim Bellino
BC: I know... the girls on RHOC kept reminding us! ( both laugh)
What qualities about him attracted you?
AB: That's easy! His confidence, his sense of humor, and his presence! Not to mention that he was tan , ripped , and smelling good!
BC: That doesn't hurt at all! (both laugh)

Alexis and her beautiful family!

BC: How long have you been married?
AB: 8 years!
BC: That's awesome!
AB: Yes we are blessed!
BC: Speaking of blessed...tell me about your children
AB: James is now six years old and my twins Melania and Mackenna are five! They are doing so great and I am so lucky!
BC: How do you balance having a career with being a  wife , and also a mother?
AB: It's a serious juggling act! I find myself struggling every day trying to find the proper balance for them all! I really live my life by putting GOD first, my marriage second, and my kids next. I nurture and romance my marriage the best I can, I volunteer at the kid's school every week to keep up with their lives, and when I am not volunteering I am either filming , doing press, or working on one of my businesses!
BC: You must get tired!
AB: I have to admit that I am exhausted often but I wouldn't want my life any other way! I have to prioritize wisely instead of spreading myself too thin.I think that I happen to love chaos because when things slow down I find that I am bored! The old saying " if you really want something done, then ask the busiest person you know"... happens to be true with me!

The Season 8 Real Housewives Of Orange County Cast

BC: How did you first get involved with Bravo television and The Real Housewives of Orange County?
AB: I knew Jeana Keough, who was a cast member from seasons one through four...one day at a local restaurant she came up to me and said " I turned your name into Bravo for the show and they will be calling you soon" ...I think I turned white as a ghost ( both laugh) because then she said " What? You are perfect for the show!"...sure enough they called me the next day.
BC: Was Jim supportive? Was this a family decision?
AB: This was definitely a family decision. Jim and I spent hours and days talking about it. We talked it over with our family, friends, pastor , and our therapist!
BC: Talk about covering all your bases! ( both laugh)
AB: Yes...and at the end of it all we both decided that we thought that it would be a fun experience!
BC: Was the experience what you thought it would be before you saw your self after your first season aired?
AB: ( laughing) No way! Are you Crazy!? I don't think there is any way to know or anticipate what you are about to experience until you experience it! It's like telling someone what it's like to have a baby...your description could never match what it's really like to do it!

BC: In what ways has being on reality TV changed you ?
AB: It has definitely made me stronger! I was a naive, small town girl before.I also think that it has opened my eyes in areas in which I wish to be a better person.

Season 7 of The Real Housewives Of Orange County : Alexis in Costa Rica

BC: How many seasons have you a part of The Real Housewives of Orange County on Bravo TV and what made you decide to return after last year and the season being so difficult for you?
AB: This season will be my fourth year. One month after quitting the show in September, the production company reached out to me and asked me to reconsider. I thought long and hard about it and decided that I didn't want to send the message to my children that it was OK to quit when times get tough. I also wanted to prove to myself that I wouldn't let others " Bully" me from following my dreams! Jim and I talked it through and we both felt the right decision was to return.
BC: You are taking a lot of heat in the press lately  for using the term " Bully" and Gretchen and Tamra are saying that you are over exaggerating ...what are your thoughts on that?
AB: It is how I felt. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and viewers didn't get to  see everything due to editing. I was harassed like crazy. Viewers who are watching this season will see things a little more clearly in a few episodes so stay tuned!

BC:  Your fellow cast mate .Gretchen Rossi , and yourself were seemingly great friends prior to your "falling out" last season...  where is your relationship today?
AB: We are not enemies but not friends.I don't know if I could ever trust her with my friendship again...

Vicki Gunvalson and Alexis Bellino last season RHOC
Vicki Gunvalson. Alexis Bellino, and Lydia McLaughlin

BC: What do you say to people who don't feel that you and Vicki Gunvalson are " real friends" ?
AB: Vicki and I took a few years to become friends. It wasn't something that happened over night.
I feel that although Vicki and I bumped heads before, neither one of us thought the other was a terrible person. So once Vicki was in a happier place in her own life we got to connect better and she was bale to see me for who I am .

BC: As a viewer of RHOC it seems to me that Tamra Barney always needs to find someone to pick on  and last  year you were the target... why do you think that was?
AB: I think that I am an easy target because I do not fight dirty and I would rather be the one getting hurt than the one doing the hurting ya know?
BC: I totally get it!

Season 8 Real Housewives Of  Orange County " Girls Trip "

BC: Without giving too much away...what can fans expect from this season of RHOC?
AB: They will get to see me in more of my Mom role as well as my relationship with Jim. They will also get to see me pursuing my acting career after my cameo on General Hospital last year.

BC: Tell me about your " passion for fashion" and your role as  Designer…
AB: I love designing! I took as many fashion classes as possible in college simply because I loved it. Once I had the opportunity to chase my dream, I did it! Alexis Couture takes a lot of time, so this season I pulled back a little so I could help with Sky Zone, our indoor trampoline park, as well as take acting classes. However I still have dresses available and when I have a little time free up I plan to design a new maxi that I have sketched out!

Alexis Bellino and Tal Sheyn at LA Fashion Week

BC: How is your dress line " Alexis by Tal Sheyn doing ?
AB: Alexis by Tal Sheyn is going amazing! It's been so much fun collaborating with Tal.
BC: What was it like to be a part of LA Fashion Week?
AB: LA Fashion Week was one of the best, most proud moments for me! It feels so incredible to sit back and watch your dresses walk down a runway!
BC: What direction do you see yourself and  your line going in the future?
AB: Over the next few years we hope to have a store front as well as international boutiques!

Strike A Pose! Fierce!

BC: Describe your personal style to me, what are you into currently?
AB: I consider myself trendy, classy, and fashion forward. Right now I love jeans with blazers and  hot pair of stilettos! I also love the peplum style skirts and dresses!

BC: What do you like to do to relax? ( if you ever can)
AB: Relax?! What does that mean? ( both laugh)

BC: Lastly what would like fans to take away from RHOC about who you are and the many hats you wear?
AB: I want fans to see my heart and to know that I truly believe in the golden rule " you must treat people the way you wish to be treated" . I know I am not perfect and there are things that I wish to change about myself every day but I continue to work on that everyday!  I am a dedicated wife, a loving mother who is extremely hands on , and the most loyal friend anyone could have. I believe that we are all here for a reason greater than ourselves so when it is all said an done, I want my life to have an exclamation point at the end of it and not a period.

BC:  I definitely wish that for you! Thank you for always being so kind to me and the work you did for me to help with The Hurricane Sandy Project was greatly appreciated as well!
AB: Your welcome! The pleasure is all mine and I always will find time to give back!

There you have it ! Alexis Bellino will not allow herself to be underestimated or held back! Alexis  is " driving the bus" called her life and she will follow her dreams and passions even if that means stepping out side of the box and trying new things. At the end of the day Alexis Bellino  will be a role model for her children sending them the message that when things get tough you stay and choose your own outcome. Alexis has definitely captured our attention and also what matters  most... the hearts of her fans and that's the way I see it !

The Beautiful and Talented Sande Charles!

Sande Charles ( no relation ) is a model, actress, and host who ultimately has  aspirations of becoming a sportscaster for ESPN . Sande has been involved in the entertainment industry as well as working  behind the scenes with and along side of  many of the best athletes and sport teams that America has to offer.Sande  Charles is a self proclaimed " Sports Nut " who feel most at home while on the field or at a local hang out watching the game and keeping score!  Below I had the opportunity to pick her brain and get to the bottom of what this athletic, sports driven, and smart  beauty is all about...meet Sande Charles!

BC: Where are you from and where did you grow up ?
SC: I grew up in Glendale, AZ... Most people think when I say Glendale I mean Glendale, California, but NOPE. There is a Glendale, AZ ( both laugh)

BC: Tell me about growing up and what your family is like...
SC: I grew up being the only girl of 5 boys. Our family is very driven and very diverse. So many different personalities. My brothers are fluent in sarcasm so that's probably where I picked up that trait. My dad is an attorney and a sports enthusiast. We were always going to every sporting event you could imagine. My mom was the best stay at home mom you could ever have.
BC: Sounds amazing!
SC: It was for sure!

BC: What did you think you wanted to be when you grew up?
SC: Growing up I always had a dream to move to LA and follow my passion of being in front of the camera. I have been dancing since I was 2. I would travel all over the US and dance with the likes of Brian Friedman, Brooke Lipton, Mia Michaels, Wade Robson.. the list goes on. I continued to dance all the way up until after college and moving to LA. I had been acting since I was about 10. So acting and dancing was my life.

BC: How did you make the decision to attend ASU and what did you study?
SC: I decided to go to ASU because it was close to home, but still far enough away to still be on my own . A friend from high school and I  decided to go together. We always had the same dream in high school. GET TO LA. The only thing is our parents were insisting on was that we finish school. So, we applied and got in and we were off to be college students together in an apartment in Tempe, AZ.
I studied Biology.
BC: Quite a stretch  from acting and dancing!
SC: Yes...I started by being pre-vet and then changed my major toward the end to just pre-health. I thought this would give me the best fall back in case any thing ever happened.
BC: Smart and makes sense...
SC: I  would go to USC every summer and take classes there while pursuing my dream of being on camera broadcasting. I would take acting and on-camera classes every summer while living in LA and taking Summer school. I was in music videos for Avril Lavigne, the USED, Paulina Rubio etc.

Sande with friends when she was as an LA Kings Ice Girl!

BC: Tell me about being an LA Kings Ice Girl and what that involved...
SC: Being an LA Kings Ice girl was an incredible experience. Some of my closest friends have come through it. Being an ice girl you are a face for the la kings. you represent the la kings brand. You are an ambassador. We would have practices for on ice drills and of course we would work on our skating. we had a skating coach.. Former LA KINGS player and best known for his role in the MIRACLE ON MANCHESTER, Daryl Evans.
BC: Awesome! What was he like?
SC: Daryl is by far the sweetest most caring coach I have ever encountered. He really cares about the girls and wants to see them do their best and be their best. I feel so blessed having had the opportunity to work with him. On game days there is two different rolls.. On the ice or in the bowl. On the ice girls are responsible for clearing the snow on the ice or the NHL will fine the team. A lot of people don't know that. They think its just a way for teams to have girls in cute uniforms. WELL, guess what... NOPE. ( both laugh)
The skating on the ice to clean the snow is imperative to play and safety of the players and refs. So, yes we look cute doing it, but it's a real job.
BC: How was it being in the bowl?
SC: In the bowl, it is all about the fans! As it should be! That was always my favorite part! Getting to dance and interact with the fans inside Staples center. I couldn't have asked for any thing more. It would make my night. I remember the last game I EVER worked. It was a playoff game and things weren't going our way, but dang it I was going to wave that flag with passion and pride. I had a blast. I danced I loved every minute of it. My eyes would tear up when we scored and nothing could stop me from cheering.
BC: Are there any special memories that you have from during your time as a LA Kings Ice Girl?
SC: Yes...One time after a game I felt a tug on my arm. I turned around and it was a lady and she said, and I will never forget it, " it's so refreshing to see some one love their job so much. You can tell you really love it and are so passionate about it" I had to hold back tears!! People could see how much I loved it and I hope that made them love the game and experience more!

BC: So career wise where do you ultimately see yourself?
SC: I currently work for the MLB Network on the show called Intentional Talk with Chris Rose. I am his PA.I have been so fortunate to be able to travel and work the World Series and the World Baseball Classic. I am so thankful for those opportunities and all the amazing people I have met. For ESPN I have been involved with their Xgames as a manager, the ESPYS, Monday night Baseball, and College football.
BC: It sounds like you have a real passion for your job and amazing opportunities!
SC: I love it all, but ultimately I will be on air talent, sideline reporter, host. I like to learn every thing I can behind the scenes. I think having an appreciation for what goes on behind the camera will make me a better reporter. I want to be the best, the most well rounded host I can be.

Sande excited for The ESPYS!

BC: So Speaking of passion...what is it that you are most passionate about?
SC: I am so passionate about my goal of being a reporter/ sports broadcaster. I live and breathe it. I love every aspect of it. I love sports. I love working in sports. I love knowing stats, I love watching live sports or sports from home. From the minute I wake up to the minute I go to bed my day is consumed by sports reading, watching, writing and learning. I love it.
BC: You are blessed that you are getting to do what you love most!
SC: I know and I am very fortunate to be on this path in my field! I love, love, love my job on Intentional Talk! I get to sit and listen to one of the best hosts in the business, Chris Rose, talk about sports! I am watching and learning! Hosting and sports. I love my job. I am so, so, so thankful for it. I practice my hosting and to be honest I haven't listened to the radio in almost three months. I use my time in the car in LA traffic to work on my hosting and practice. I love it and i want to use every second of every day.

Sande's joy over baseball is apparent lol!

BC: What is it that you are working on currently?
SC: I have a bunch of new things coming up.. March was the busiest month from me. I wasn't home for a month.
BC: I know ( both laugh) It was hard just to connect for our interview!
SC: ( laughing) Yes! I was traveling for the World Baseball Classic and then was in Bristol the home of ESPN. Now, I am back in LA and starting to get settled. I will be taking over the Angels minor league baseball team, the Inland Empire 66ers, social media on Sundays. Being a SOCIAL MEDIA REPORTER is one of my goals so I am really excited about this.
BC: Congrats!
SC: Thank you!

BC: So regarding your career choice and the content your covering which was traditionally viewed as a
" boys club" do you think that there is there a stigma attached to being a female host when it comes to covering sports?
SC: I used to think yes, but we are seeing more and more girl sports reporters. I do think for a girl you do have to study harder and work harder to show you know your stuff and you don't want to just be on TV. You have to love it and it come across. Guys its a little easier for them since they were born studying sports stats.. girls were born to remember what they wore when. So, I do think girls are taking more serious now a days just takes a little more work. Which I love and am all up for!

BC: How do you feel about other female sportscasters/hosts do you see them as competition?
SC: No, I don't see them as competition. I like to learn from them. I take what I don't like and what I do like and try to apply it to my own special brand and personality for me.

Sande likes to incorporate fun in between working!

BC: What is your favorite sport ?
SC:  I am a huge baseball and hockey fan. Growing up these were the sports my brothers played so I think that's why they stuck with me. I love football, I love soccer. I love golf. I really like it all.

BC: So you seem very athletic...did you play sports growing up?
SC: Growing up I was always very athletic with dance, track and volleyball. It has carried in to my adult life because I am so used to being active. I love to work out! I run on the beach or do hot yoga. I can't get enough. I like supplements a lot. I am obsessed with the pro 5 PROTEIN powder. I put it in every thing.

Sande and Heather Marianna at Chanel

BC: Tell me about your friendship with Heather Marianna creator of Beauty Kitchen ( who introduced us ) and how you met?
SC: Heather is one of my closest and dearest friends. We met at the same on- camera/hosting school Become A Host. Become A Host is a one stop shop for all hosts where we get to learn from the
"Queen Of Hosting" herself, Marki Costello.
BC: Yes I have heard Marki is one of the best!
SC: She is THE best!  Marki is my LA MOM!  I worked for her for a year while trying to take in all I could under her wing. In that time, I was able to meet Heather. Heather and I clicked right away. I am so happy and proud to call her a friend.
BC: Sweet!

Here is the site for people to check out Become A Host and info on Marki Costello:

BC: Now a round of fun questions that I want to know the answers too...
SC: ( laughs) Should I be worried?
BC: ( laughing) No I will go easy I promise!...What is your horoscope?
BC: Aries

BC: Are you single or seeing anyone?
SC: I thought you said you were going to go easy? ( laughs) Lets say I like to stay focused on my career ( both laugh)

BC: What would you consider a perfect day off for you?
SC: I really don't like to take any days off until I am at my goal. So, every day to me even if it is an "off" day from work is still a work day. I read and watch all the sports my brain can take. I live at the beach so on a break I like to go for a beach run, swim or lay out. I love being outside. Riding bikes, hiking. I love to stay active. I love doing new things too. I am always up for any thing.

Sande and Cali! So Cute!

BC: Do you have any pets?
SC: An English Bulldog named Cali short for California because I always wanted to go there!
BC: So cute!

BC: Please tell me about the charities that you are involved with...
SC: There are two right now. One is Make my Day Mondays #MMDM. This is the first twitter based charity started by sports agent Scott Norton. It's about going the extra mile for those around you whether its buying the coffee for the person behind you in line at Starbucks or helping out at at shelter on Mondays.
BC: Like Paying It Forward?
SC: Exactly! Nothing is too big or too small. Many athletes have been getting involved and spreading the word through twitter. The idea is to one day it become make my day every day. There have been events all over to raise money and give to foundations and charities. LA event is coming soon.

Check it out here:  http://www.makemydaymondays.com

BC: And the other?
SC: The other one is Be the Match: They are greatly involved in the community and especially the sports community. They are a registry for those patience with leukemia and other life threatening diseases can get marrow or cord blood transplants. The LA Kings and the LA Dodgers hold drives at games for people to sign up and hopefully one day will find a match and help some one in need:)

BC: Describe your fashion sense/style...
SC: I really like to be comfortable. I am obsessed with shopping and the latest trends, but within reason of price and style. I don't think I am too extreme with any thing I wear. My favorites places to shop are Nordstrom and LF Manhattan beach. I love Jeffrey Cambell shoes. I can't live without mine. I don't have a particular style. If I like some thing I like it. It can be hipster, bohemian, modern or even business casual. I love it all, but I pretty much live in work out clothes. I love Lululemon. I'm obsessed with it!

BC: Thank you for talking with me and letting my readers get a glimpse into your life! You are very interesting and I am exciting to watch things happen for you as they unfold...
SC: Thank you and I am glad that we finally had the chance to do this as I was looking forward to it!
BC: Thank you!
